When warm weather hits Cleveland, people start exploring the city day and night to experience all that it has to offer and see what’s developed over the long, cold winter. The nightlife throughout downtown Cleveland and in neighboring cities like Tremont, Ohio City and Gordon Square have seen a substantial increase in recent years, with larger crowds, more activity and later hours of operation.
With more people venturing outdoors and on the road, especially at night, it only increases the risks of traffic accidents. There are many reasons for accidents, including distracted driving, excessive speeding, failure to obey traffic laws and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Impaired driving is still a major issue, not only in Cleveland but all over the country. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the number of alcohol-related fatalities in Ohio has steadily increased each year since 2013, with Cuyahoga County near the top of the list in the state.
Thankfully, ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are available throughout most major cities, including Cleveland to help reduce impaired driving and offer safe modes of transportation 24 hours a day.
For residents of Smartland apartment complexes, the benefit of ride-sharing apps gets even better. Smartland has partnered with Uber on an innovative service that is proudly called “Uber Me Home!” Once monthly, any resident of Smartland’s apartment complexes can now get a 100% free Uber ride from wherever they are back to their apartment, any night of the week from 9:00 pm – 4:00 am, courtesy of Smartland.
According to Shari L., a resident at the Body Block Apartments, she says about this service, “It’s very easy, safe and it relieves other people on the road with Uber saving lives. For me, having a landlord like this who absolutely cares about their residents and getting them home at these hours of the night is amazing.”
Along with reducing the number of impaired drivers on roads, there is also another incredibly convenient benefit for those who need to leave early from events after carpooling or arriving by another way. It reduces the burden of friends and colleagues to leave with them and drive you home by offering residents greater flexibility.
This is the next step for ride sharing and living communities as a whole to provide a new level of service. Uber Me Home is an excellent service that is not only convenient but also safer. That’s why Smartland decided to take these unique steps to ensure communities are that much safer.
Smartland promotes a greater quality of life with ‘Uber Me Home’ by being the first in the Cleveland area to offer such a service to apartment residents. Residents are able to enjoy more of life, spend less money and always know with confidence that they’ll be getting back home safely every time. Shari expressed it perfectly to her friends when she says, “I feel sorry for the people who don’t have landlords like Smartland.”
