Eastlake, OHSmartland owns and operates more than 1,400 rental units across Northeast Ohio. We’re looking for a skilled Maintenance Technician to keep our apartment communities and rental homes in excellent condition while ensuring residents feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
You will support maintenance across multiple apartment communities and single-family rental homes.
Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- Rotating on-call evenings and weekends for urgent or emergency repairs
What You’ll Do
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance
- Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and appliance issues
- Complete basic troubleshooting before performing advanced repairs
- Turn vacant units quickly and meet established turn deadlines
- Complete work orders accurately in our mobile app (photos, notes, parts used)
- Respond to urgent maintenance requests and participate in on-call rotation
- Maintain property exteriors including grounds, gutters, landscaping, and safety hazards
- Follow all safety procedures and OSHA standards
- Communicate clearly with residents, leasing, and property management teams
What You Bring
- 3+ years of residential or multifamily maintenance experience
- Strong skills in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry
- Exterior maintenance experience (groundskeeping, concrete, roofing, siding, etc.) is a major plus
- Basic to advanced troubleshooting ability
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and your own tools
- Ability to lift at least 75 lbs, climb ladders, maneuver in tight spaces, and work indoors/outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work independently, follow deadlines, and complete assigned work orders on time
- Strong understanding of general maintenance safety and OSHA guidelines
