Smartland is hiring a licensed Pest Control Technician to support and protect over 1,400+ residential units across Northeast Ohio. If you’re detail-oriented, reliable, and committed to keeping homes pest-free, we’d love to meet you.
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Standard daytime hours (8-hour shifts)
- Occasional early mornings or urgent visits depending on pest activity
- Travel between Smartland properties throughout Northeast Ohio
- Company vehicle provided for work-related travel (if applicable)
What You’ll Do
- Inspect residential properties to identify insects, rodents, and pest activity
- Apply pest control treatments safely and correctly per state, EPA, and label regulations
- Perform routine monthly pest-control services across multiple apartment communities
- Place and monitor traps, baits, and pest-control devices
- Diagnose pest sources and recommend property repairs or preventive measures
- Communicate findings and treatment plans to residents, managers, and maintenance teams
- Collaborate with maintenance staff on pest-related property issues (entry points, moisture problems, sanitation concerns)
- Maintain detailed logs, treatment notes, chemical usage reports, and equipment documentation
- Use a mobile device for routing, recordkeeping, reporting, and scheduling
- Operate company vehicles responsibly while traveling between sites
- Maintain and clean equipment, ensuring compliance with PPE and safety protocols
What You Bring
- Valid Ohio Pest Control License (or the ability to transfer your license)
- 2+ years of professional pest control experience
- Experience identifying and treating common pests (ants, roaches, rodents, bed bugs, etc.)
- Strong understanding of pesticide regulations, label requirements, and safety standards
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in attics, basements, crawlspaces, and outdoor conditions
- Excellent communication and professionalism with residents and team members
- Comfort using mobile apps for documentation and routing
- Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
- Additional maintenance or repair experience is a plus
Nice to Have
- Experience working in apartment communities or multi-unit housing
- Knowledge of exclusion methods and minor repair techniques
- Familiarity with AppFolio, Yardi, or other property/maintenance software
- Interest in growing into a Lead Pest Technician or Pest Program Supervisor role

- Do not currently hold (or plan to obtain) a valid pest control license
- Struggle with reliability, punctuality, or independent route management
- Avoid documentation, reporting, or following detailed safety procedures
- Are uncomfortable entering occupied units or communicating directly with residents
- Do not follow PPE, label rules, or state compliance regulations
